Golden Sierra Junior Senior High School issued the following on Oct. 19
The Black Oak Mine Unified School District (BOMUSD) has lost a loyal friend and valuable employee. Mr. Bob Ritchey died unexpectedly on Tuesday, Oct. 14, of a lingering illness unrelated to COVID-19. Ritchey began his career in January of 2004 as a custodian in the Head Start program at Georgetown School. He then worked as a custodian at both Northside and Golden Sierra. He was promoted to Grounds and Maintenance II and worked hard to keep Golden Sierra looking great.
Bob was described by fellow employees as a very hard worker, never missing a day of work. He always had a funny story and liked to be called “Bad Bob.” Bob’s son, Jacob, worked for the district and as Shelly King, Personnel Coordinator said, “Bob taught him well. “
Bob is survived by his life partner, Kelli, also an employee of BOMUSD, his son Jacob, three other children and three grandchildren.
Superintendent and Principal of GSJSHS Jeremy Meyers notified the district of Bob’s death with the following message:
“We are organizing to see how we might be of greatest service to Bob's memory and his loved ones. We will provide that information as soon as possible. Our thoughts and prayers are with his entire family and extensive network of close friends. We mourn the loss of an exceptional man.”
