Tom McClintock, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 5th district and co-chair of the Iran caucus, has recently shared his views on international and judicial matters through several social media posts.

On January 15, 2026, McClintock commented on developments in Iran, stating, “As the co-chair of the Iran caucus, I was glad to join @RepBethVanDuyne on @BottomLineFBN to talk about the recent developments in Iran. A free, democratic, secular, and non-nuclear Iran is the best possible outcome for the world.”

The following day, he criticized two federal judges in another post: “Federal judges Boasberg and Boardman have repeatedly disgraced themselves and the court by their manifestly political and legally flawed decisions. The constitutional check on such abuses is the appellate process, which has repeatedly reversed them. If Congress cut their salaries” (January 16, 2026).

Later that same day, McClintock addressed Puerto Rico’s status: “I believe that independence would restore to the Puerto Rican people their full right of self-determination, allowing them to set their own course without outside interference or exploitation.  Puerto Rico is uniquely positioned to become both a financial Singapore and a tourist” (January 16, 2026).

McClintock has represented California’s 5th District in Congress since 2009 after succeeding John Doolittle. He previously served in both chambers of California’s state legislature from 1996 through 2008. Born in White Plains, New York in 1956 and currently residing in Elk Grove at age 66, McClintock earned his BA from UCLA in 1988.
