Tom McClintock, a U.S. Congress member representing California’s 5th district since 2009, recently shared several updates on his legislative activities and community engagements through social media. The tweets highlight various issues including wildfire management, water storage solutions, and a local art competition.
On May 9, 2025, McClintock emphasized the importance of efficient access to resources for firefighters amid increasing wildfires in California. He stated, “With California wildfires on the rise, it’s commonsense to allow firefighters expedient access to critical resources. I’m proud to join my colleagues in co-sponsoring the Forest Protection and Wildland Firefighter Safety Act to cut bureaucratic red tape and fight fires more”.
Later that day, McClintock met with Sacramento River Settlement Contractors and Ducks Unlimited to discuss water storage needs. He noted political challenges but suggested possible initiatives inspired by past propositions. On May 9, he tweeted: “Met this week with Sacramento River Settlement Contractors and Ducks Unlimited on the urgent need to increase water storage. Can’t do it while the woke left controls CA government – but maybe an initiative? When people got fed up with crime they passed Prop 36.”
On May 10, McClintock announced the winner of the Congressional Art Competition selected by local veterans. He expressed gratitude towards participating students in his tweet: “I was pleased to announce the winner of the #CongressionalArtCompetition selected by a panel of local veterans. Thanks to all the kids for their efforts!”
Tom McClintock has been serving in Congress since replacing John Doolittle in 2009. Prior roles include serving in both California’s State Assembly and Senate.
