Tom McClintock, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 5th district since 2009, has recently addressed several issues on his social media accounts, ranging from support for public service workers to forest management and Puerto Rican sovereignty.
On July 21, 2025, McClintock expressed appreciation for individuals who serve the community in high-risk roles. He stated, “These men and women, just like those who serve our military, put their lives on the line to protect our families, and it seems fitting that we should extend this small courtesy to them. It is simply a way to say, ‘Thank you’ to them – a simple but tangible token of our gratitude”.
In another post dated July 23, 2025, McClintock discussed Puerto Rico’s political future after meeting with Juan Dalmau. He wrote, “A free and independent Puerto Rico – restored to full sovereignty and self-determination as a close US ally and trading partner – is an option that could vastly improve the future of that beautiful island. Enjoyed meeting @juandalmauPR to discuss the independence movement.”
Later the same day, McClintock highlighted legislative progress related to forest management: “I was proud to see @NatResources pass my Proven Forest Management Act expanding the categorical exclusion for forest management projects that was secured for the Tahoe Basin in the 2016 WINN Act. This is critical for reducing forest fuels that allow forest fires to rage.”
McClintock has represented California’s 5th District in Congress since replacing John Doolittle in 2009. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in both chambers of California’s state legislature: first in the State Assembly from 1996 to 2000 and then in the State Senate from 2000 to 2008. Born in White Plains, New York in 1956 and currently residing in Elk Grove at age 66, McClintock holds a BA from UCLA (1988).
