Tom McClintock, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 5th district since 2009, recently shared updates and opinions on community leadership, redistricting processes, and local economic development through a series of posts on his official social media account.
On August 19, 2025, McClintock praised Ray McPadden for his engagement with Yosemite’s gateway communities and military service. He wrote: “Ray McPadden has endeared himself to Yosemite’s gateway communities by showing up, listening, and implementing real solutions to their concerns. He has proved himself as a leader among America’s elite fighting forces, earning two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart as an Army Ranger.”
Two days later, on August 21, McClintock commented on the process behind California’s district boundaries. In his post he stated: “California districts were drawn as the result of consensus after many months of public hearings with input from every constituency and community. The Newsomander was done by rank politicians behind closed doors in a few days.”
Later that same day, McClintock discussed ongoing developments in Riverbank: “The city of Riverbank is currently in the process of transferring the old Army depot into use for light manufacturing and economic development. McClintock has represented California’s 5th District in Congress since replacing John Doolittle in 2009. Before serving in Congress, he held positions in both the California State Assembly (1996-2000) and Senate (2000-2008). Born in White Plains, New York in 1956, McClintock currently resides in Elk Grove. He graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1988.
