Tom McClintock, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 5th district, has been vocal on social media regarding recent political and civil unrest issues. His recent tweets have addressed concerns about law enforcement and public safety.
On June 9, 2025, McClintock expressed criticism towards Democrats, stating that they are “encouraging the violent rebellion against federal law enforcement” and should feel ashamed. He further emphasized that those inciting such actions should face prosecution. Citing Abraham Lincoln, he stated “There is no grievance that is a fit object of redress by mob law.”
The following day, June 10, 2025, McClintock reiterated the responsibilities of the President in maintaining federal authority. He noted that it is the President’s duty to enforce federal laws and use necessary force to suppress rebellion if local or state officials fail to act. “The President has the solemn obligation to enforce federal law and to summon whatever force is necessary to restore federal authority,” he stated.
Later on June 10, McClintock commented on the ongoing LA riots, describing them as far from peaceful and criticized Democrats for not opposing them. He warned that if Democrats prevail, families could be vulnerable to violent mobs and criminal activities by illegal immigrants. McClintock affirmed his support for the President alongside fellow California Republicans: “I’m proud to join CA Republicans in standing by the President.”
Tom McClintock has served in Congress since 2009 after succeeding John Doolittle. Prior to this role, he was part of both the California State Assembly and Senate.
