Senator Marie Alvarado-Gil posted a series of updates on her official X account, highlighting community events and legislative issues between October 20 and October 21, 2025.
On October 20, Senator Alvarado-Gil recognized the opening of a new local business in West Placerville. She wrote, “Congratulations to Tommy and Jessica Hall, the new West Placerville Grocery Outlet on their Grand Opening! Grocery Outlet is a fantastic, locally owned and affordable grocery store that is ready to serve the community! My team was honored to be a part of your big day!”
Later that same day, she addressed concerns about rising insurance costs in California. In her post dated October 20, Senator Alvarado-Gil stated, “I’m calling on Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara to reject the proposed 35.8% rate hike by the California Fair Access to Insurance Requirements (FAIR) Plan. Read my full press release at the link below.” The FAIR Plan has been under scrutiny as insurance premiums continue to increase for many Californians due to heightened wildfire risks and changes in the property insurance market.
On October 21, Senator Alvarado-Gil discussed recent legislative developments during an interview with KOGO Radio hosts Leland Conway and Marc Larson. She shared, “Thanks to Leland Conway and Marc Larson for having me on @kogoradio. I enjoyed our time together talking about Gavin Newsom’s Veto of AB 1309, the bipartisan effort to raise the compensation of our Cal Fire heroes! Listen below!” The referenced bill sought increased pay for Cal Fire employees but was vetoed by Governor Newsom amid ongoing debates over budget priorities and firefighter compensation.
Senator Marie Alvarado-Gil represents California’s State Senate District 4.
