Tom McClintock, a seasoned politician currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing California’s 5th district since 2009, offered his perspectives on various issues through a series of tweets. Born in White Plains, New York, in 1956, and currently residing in Elk Grove, McClintock has had a long political career, which includes serving in both the California State Assembly and Senate.
On April 23, 2025, McClintock addressed the cost implications of Medicaid on U.S. households, stating that “Medicaid now costs more than the defense budget, taking $6,900 a year from an average household to support.” He proposed that restoring the work requirement for able-bodied adults, prosecuting fraud, and ending services to non-citizens would help preserve the program for those reliant on it.
The following day, on April 24, 2025, McClintock shared his experience visiting Knights Ferry. He tweeted about his enjoyable meeting with a local historian, describing it as a “Great visit to the historic town of Knights Ferry.” He engaged with Carol Davis, a local historian and “honorary mayor,” to discuss the region’s history.
In another post on the same day, McClintock highlighted California’s major role in almond production. He pointed out that “California produces 80% of the world’s supply of almonds.” McClintock engaged with almond growers in Denair, discussing the industry and the repercussions of tariffs on their operations.
