El Dorado County Education: Which district had most students enrolled in schools in 2022-23 school year?

Buckeye Union Elementary School District had the highest enrollment among El Dorado County school districts, welcoming 9,644 students during the 2022-23 school year, according to the California Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 50.5% of them were boys, and 49.4% were girls.

Data also showed that the majority of students were white, making up 66.7% of Buckeye Union Elementary School District’s total enrollment.

Among the 16 districts in El Dorado County, El Dorado Union High School District ranked second in enrollment numbers with 6,680 students, while Lake Tahoe Unified School District welcomed 3,648 students and ranked third in the 2022-23 school year.

Buckeye Union Elementary School District roughly covers schools within El Dorado County and has a main office in El Dorado Hills.

In the previous school year, El Dorado Union High School District had the highest number of students among El Dorado County districts.

In the last decade, enrollment in California elementary and secondary schools rose by at least 5%, while high school enrollment dropped 5%.

However, overall enrollment in California public schools is sliding, and the Public Policy Institute of California expects it to drop another 8% by the 2031-32 school year.
