Santa comes early to Blackstone villages

Santa’s sleigh has been spotted floating down Blackstone village streets, much to the delight of young and old neighbors alike. A project, which started from a resident’s garage, caught the eye of Blackstone Social Committee Chair Indra Klatt and grew into a five-night event that warmed more than a few hearts on recent chilly nights.

“The fact that we had this wonderful volunteer and his family who wanted to do it was priceless,” said Klatt of the man who preferred to remain anonymous.

Could it be Santa? He and his elves gave out more than 400 stuffed animals and 1,000 candy canes throughout the five villages in the El Dorado Hills community, driving down every single street for up to three hours a night.

Klatt said she has never seen anything like it. “It was such a wonderful thing to be a part of,” she told Village Life, glad that the committee was able to contribute. “It brought the community together.”

“The detailed planning and care put forth to bring Santa’s Elves’ Party Patrol through the streets of our villages was impressive and heart-warming,” said resident Susan Roberts of Santa’s sleigh ride publicized primarily through social media. “We are so thankful for such beautiful and thoughtful members of our community.”

What started as a styrofoam and duct tape concoction, the Blackstone Santa Run is now being planned as an annual event. “Next year will be a parade,” promised Klatt. “People are already saying that they want to be a part of it.”
